Eating Naturally With the Paleo Diet Cookbook

0

The modern human has not changed appreciably since the Paleolithic age. Our digestive systems and other bodily functions evolved to suit the paleo diet food list available to us during that time. The diet during the time when our digestive systems matured to what they are now was a hunter-gatherer diet, consisting primarily of meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, roots and nuts. There were no refined sugars, processed oils or other such modern day things in our diets.

The Paleo Diet Cookbook shows us how to make the most use of these natural foods found in the paleo diet food list. With recipes using ingredients easily found in today’s grocery stores it is relatively easy to follow this diet.

Many adults are lactose intolerant, causing intestinal problems, while some are deathly allergic to milk products. There are also many people who are highly allergic to wheat products. These were not on the paleo diet food list for early humans so our digestive systems did not evolve to handle these foods. In most humans, once childhood is past, the need for milk products is gone and the digestive processes mature to the point where it cannot be handled well.

It is well known that many of the diseases and health problems we suffer from today are because we are not eating a proper diet, a diet our bodies evolved to deal with and make the most use of. The incidence of diabetes, for example, is almost unknown to aboriginal people even today who naturally follow this sort of diet. Start giving these same people our modern foods, filled with sugars, artificial colors and flavors and preservatives and soon they develop the same incidence of diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses as the rest of us.

As hunter-gatherers our diet consisted of meats and fishes brought in by the hunters and roots, berries, nuts, fruits, and plant life brought in by the gatherers. Foods were valued by the energy and calories they imparted. If they did not at least replace the energy spent gathering them, then they had little value. The Paleo Diet Cookbook shows you how to use these same natural foods so your family can eat the healthful foods our bodies were designed for.
